This may seem simple. Maybe too simple. But it’s something we have all struggled with, so we think it’s worth mentioning: Throw out the leftovers from Christmas and New Years.
We’ve all held on to the cookies, breads, cakes and candies for far too long. As I write this, I’m eating a delicious chocolate-mint that I bought in bulk at Costco for a dinner party at our home. But I shouldn’t be…
Go into your fridge or pantry right now and find one item that “Summer You” or “Hunting Season You” wouldn’t eat. Then, slowly, carefully… remove it and throw it in the trash.
Want some examples from our kitchen?
- Aforementioned chocolate mints
- King’s Hawaiian Rolls
- carmel corn
- candy canes for “decoration”
- flour tortillas
- Top Ramen
- Ritz Crackers
- peppermint bark…
Need I go on?
We all want to save leftovers, no one likes “wasting food”. Believe me, we all hate it! But the fact is, those calories are most likely wasted calories. They were awesome at Christmas Dinner, but now they need to go where they belong. That’s right – In the trash can.
Go cold turkey! It’s time.
Set a better example for your kids and family, and throw out the leftovers. You’ll feel better tomorrow, though it may hurt a little today.
“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex, overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.”- Mark Twain
