Patrick Scrogin is the most inspiring man I have ever met. If you watch the film you will see what I mean. We have become great friends over the years traveling to some pretty remote areas in the backcountry. Early this year I heard he was headed to New Zealand to hunt Tahr and chamois. I had filmed there once before and I knew it was going to be challenging. It’s a difficult hunt for someone with two legs, let alone an above the knee amputee. Despite his setbacks, Patrick always finds a way to push through and overcome all obstacles in front of him.
There are many things in life that we as humans will endure. Some greater than others, whether it’s a mental or physical challenge. People like Patrick who have overcome their setbacks remind the rest of us how we can change our attitudes and overcome any situation in life. He could have said “heck with life” after dying twice, 35 plus back surgeries and his amputation, but he found something inside of him to fight back. I created this film to tell his story and to remind people that you can do anything you set your mind to; if you choose too.
“At the end of the day you’re alive. You’re still breathing. You can do anything on this earth you want to do. You just have to have the fortitude and will to do it.”
