“If you think you’re too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room.”
– Anita Roddick
Millions of meetings have been rescheduled, flights missed, projects postponed, and goals failed because of one sinful invention…the snooze button. The old you pressed it 2 or 4 times every morning, the new you is prepared to be consistent and productive
Wake up on time, CONSISTENTLY!
Here are some tried and trued strategies to help you ditch the snooze button and start waking up on time.
1. Set your alarm one minute earlier.
One of the simplest ways to start waking up earlier, painlessly, is to set your alarm one minute earlier every second day until you’ve reached your goal. This helps your body adjust easily and many people start waking up naturally seconds before their alarm goes off. It could take up to a month to reach your goal, but the transition will be lasting. Unplug has helped us feel rejuvenated and ready to start our day when it’s time.
2. Use peer pressure.
Schedule meetings, workouts, or breakfast with other early risers to build in accountability to your morning. We are far more likely to get up on time if sleeping in means letting someone down and looking like a slug.
3. Set yourself up to win.
Before you go into bed there are steps you can take to jump start your morning.
- Set your clothes out that you need for the next day
- Place your alarm across the bedroom so you need to get up to turn it off.
- Set your coffee pot timer so you have a hot cup of joe waiting for you. Add a scoop of Wild C8 MCT to your coffee if you want your morning to be even better.
4. Spend a week in the woods.
Researchers have discovered that it is possible to sync your body’s sleep schedule with the sunrise and sunset. The trick, which should be a slam dunk for all of you, is spending 7 days away from artificial light. That means no cell phones or gadgets after sunset.
Building consistency and discipline into your sleep schedule is the foundation to getting shit done, plain and simple. If you don’t believe us, just ask the most successful people in your lives how many times they hit the snooze button this morning.
